This paper reviews the application of FT-ICR mass spectrometers for various proteomic purposes and presents on several examples advantages over other mass spectrometry approaches. FT-ICR MS shows uncomparably high resolution. Numerous isolation and dissociation/fragmentation techniques, such as SORI and ECD, or their combination, give precise information about studied proteomic samples.
