ISRE elements are short sequences that drive the expression of interferons (IFN) and interferon-stimulated genes. Therefore, they are key genetic elements determining the gene regulation of innate immune pathways. ISRE consensus sequences have been described in mammals and many other vertebrates. Our preliminary data show that the ISRE consensus is different in avian genomes. This work would use the set of avian interferon-stimulated genes and their promoters to characterize the avian ISRE consensus sequence.
Generating promoter regions of IFN-stimulated genes from annotated avian genomes. Using HOMER to obtain improved ISRE avian consensus sequence.
