In this paper the current situation in the field of nanotechnology is reviewed. Conceivable participation of nanotechnologies in an effort to solve many problems of the contemporary medicine is outlined. The potential of these new technologies in medicine and pharmacy is demonstrated on several diagnostic (intracellular analysis) and therapeutic applications (target drug delivery).
