Blends from PP and PA 12 were prepared by melt mixing technique in Brabender Plasograph. The samples have been studied by a scanning electron microscope (SEM), dynamic mechanical analyser (DMA), differential scanning calorimeter (DSC), Charpy Impact strength tester and infrared spectrometer (IR). PP/PA 12 blends were compatibilized by polypropylene-graft-maleic anhydride (PP-MA) and polypropylene-graft-maleic anhydride modified by liquid polybutadiene (PP-MA-LBD) during compounding in a Brabender mixing chamber. The expected positive effect of compatibilization on blend morphology and impact strength has been demonstrated.
