Metallic composite electrodes and a newly developed graphite composite electrode are suitable sensors for analytical purposes, which could successfully replace mercury-containing electrodes. Alizarine Chrome Black PT, a substance with genotoxic effects, was chosen as a model substance. All measurements were made by differential pulse voltammetry. The obtained limits of detection using the graphite composite electrode (30 % graphite powder and 70 % epoxide resin) were comparable with those obtained using the hanging mercury drop electrode and silver composite electrode (20 % silver powder, 20 % graphite powder and 60 % epoxide resin).
