The paper concerns in the first part mechanisms of the formation of individual nitrogen oxides, i.e. nitrogen monoxide N₂O, nitrogen oxide NO, and nitrogen dioxide NO₂. In the second part, the mechanism of formation and decomposition of stratospheric ozone is described and the importance of stratospheric ozone is discussed.
