Gas Chromatographic Separation of Enantiomers on Cyclodextrin Stationary Phases

The review describes main factors influencing direct gas chromatographic separation of enantiomers in capillary columns coated with cyclodextrin stationary phases. It has been shown that the type of cyclodextrin (a-, b- or g-CD), the nature and positions of substituents in CD derivatives, polarity of the polysiloxane used in mixed stationary phases and separation temperature are the main factors influencing separation of enantiomers of optically active compounds. Column characteristics, the carrier gas, conditioning and storage of columns are secondary parameters influencing the enantioselective separation procedure.
